Song review

Main themes

Amen by Evelyn Wanjiru Ft Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna & Rev. Julian Kyula is built on the following themes:

  • Set this room on fire
  • Fill me again
  • Amen, Hallelujah

Set this room on fire

Often in times when fire is used in the Bible, it is not decorative; it consumes, purifies, or transforms a cry for it is from a place of wanting to see these things happen in our lives.

When the early church gathered in one place on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came as tongues of fire and everything changed. This song carries that same hunger. Not gathering is just the beginning the Holy fire being present is key to seeing change.

Acts 2:2–4 (KJV)
[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
[3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Fill me again

This is a personal request from God for a fresh encounter with God, for it is not only to remain a corporate space but a personal infilling.

This is a hunger that is brought by understanding what God has done before, and this leaves you with a desire to experience Him new.

Matthew 5:6 (KJV)
[6]Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Amen, Hallelujah

These two words are usually powerful, one emanating from faith that is being in agreement with God about the things that we desire, and the other is a call to praise the Lord.

The repetition is not in vain, for these are the substance of our worship, our voices being lifted to God to declare things to be before they see them. It is an expression of our active faith.

Revelation 19:1 (KJV)

[1]And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God.
