Emancipation

Dear literature
I have a bummer
I’m afraid I cannot keep offering you any more
Of my blood and sweat
You’ve run me down
I almost can’t breathe
Get your heavy heels off me, brute

Now I give you up,
Lest I suffocate with empty optimism

I let you enslave me first
But you won’t fool me twice, sly
Your foolish slave now roams free

What in the world is this, fool
You ain’t going nowhere
This is your pill
You’re a WRITER
Swallow the damn pill
Let it run in your blood
Embrace it, fool!

You can run
But you won’t hide
This is who you are

Emancipation is a poem exposing the backscenes of a writer’s mind. This scene is a battle between a writer in despair and his literature project.
