Jaque Gachiri was born to loving parents who instilled Christian values and the teachings of Christ in her from an early age. She is the third-born in a family of four siblings — two older sisters and a younger brother. Raised in Nyaora, Kayole — a neighborhood often marked by gang-related violence — Jaque experienced a rocky start to life. Yet, in the midst of it all, God’s faithfulness shone through, and He continues to perfect the good work He began in her.

While she longed for a life far from the chaos of Nyaora, it was that very environment that shaped her — the same place where her musical gift, and that of her sisters, first took root.

Musical Journey

Jaque’s musical journey is deeply rooted in her family and her faith. Raised in a musically gifted home, it’s no surprise that she would one day take up the mantle herself. Her mother has released three Kikuyu gospel albums, while her father faithfully served as the local choir master. It was in this spiritually rich and musically vibrant environment that Jaque’s gift began to blossom.

Following in the footsteps of her older sister, Njoki Munyi, Jaque formally began her musical ministry at Calvary Covenant Centre in Kayole. Here, she not only learned to lead worship but also received mentorship and intensive vocal training from her pastors and worship team leaders.

After Calvary Covenant Centre, she joined Karura Community Chapel as a worship leader which instilled proper administrative skills in her.

Together with Njoki, she would go on to join Ruach South in 2022 — a key turning point that fueled her passion for deeper ministry and broader impact.

That same year, the sisters joked about being invited to perform at the Groove Awards, Kenya’s biggest gospel music awards show at the time. Yet what started as a light-hearted moment soon turned prophetic. A devoted fan of Dunsin Oyekan, Jaque prophesied that her sister Njoki would one day minister alongside him — and in 2023, during Rhema Feast, that very word came to pass in a moment that left many in awe.

Through every season — from local worship teams to national stages — Jaque’s journey has been marked by obedience, prophetic vision, and an unwavering desire to glorify God through music.

Marriage

Jaque met her husband, Samuel Gachiri, at Calvary Covenant Centre, the same church where her music ministry began. At the time, Jaque was still a student, while Samuel was active in both music and drama ministry. Their paths crossed meaningfully in 2013 when Samuel, then 23, was asked to direct the church’s annual Christmas cantata. Pastor Harry suggested that he collaborate with Jaque to co-develop the play’s script — a divine pairing that marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship and ministry partnership.

Though Jaque had other admirers, she admits to having had a quiet sense that Samuel would one day pursue her. At just 19, she cautiously stepped into a relationship with him, and two years later, at the age of 21, she became his wife. Their union has since become an example of mutual love, respect, and support, admired by many in their community.

In 2015, just before Jaque left for Korea for a four-month stay, Samuel proposed — fearing he might lose her forever. Despite the long-distance courtship that followed, their bond only grew stronger. Upon her return, they exchanged vows in December 2015, sealing not only their love but also their shared calling.

Their marriage has been a catalyst for Jaque’s growth, both personally and spiritually. She often praises Samuel as a pillar of support throughout her journey as a music minister — standing with her through life’s highest peaks and deepest valleys.

Together, they are raising a beautiful family of four. Their firstborn, Sifa, arrived in 2018, followed by twins Keni and Kenia in 2020.

Most recently, they welcomed their youngest son, Judah, on January 16, 2025 — a joyful addition who has brought even more warmth and praise into their home and hearts.

Challenges

Growing up in Nyaora, Jaque and her siblings witnessed mob justice countless times, which scarred Jaque’s heart, and she desired to leave the area. Thankfully, God answered the desire of her heart and gave her a way out when she got married to her husband.

In 2020, Jaque and Samuel discovered that they were expecting their twins (Keni and Kenia). The couple initially anticipated one child and so the news that they would be getting 2 which is a blessing, took them a moment to process the information.

The twins were born prematurely at just 23 weeks, requiring an emergency C-section and an extended stay in the ICU. With hospital bills mounting beyond what the family could afford, Jaque’s sister, Njoki, led an online fundraiser — a testament to the strength of their family and faith community.

Jacque Gachiri began recording her first song, Elewa, when she was pregnant with her first child, Sifa, with Dominic Khaemba as her producer. Though she also recorded a track titled Kila Goti at Hope Studios during this period, it was not released at the time. Instead, Elewa marked her official debut and was released in March 2019.

In 2018, while still pregnant with her firstborn, she did a live concert at Ruach South – then Purpose Centre dubbed The New Dawn which was yet another milestone that saw people gather to worship and another arrow in Jaque’s pod.

Later that same year, while still expectant, she hosted a powerful live worship concert at Ruach South (formerly Purpose Centre), titled The New Dawn — a pivotal milestone that gathered worshippers from all walks of life and signaled her readiness to step into full-time ministry.

From there, Jacque continued to write and release songs that quickly gained traction in Kenya’s gospel scene. In 2023, she unveiled some of her most widely acclaimed singles, including Nani Akupinge, Kukutana Nawe, and Hebrews 12:22. That same year, she also released I’m Moving Ahead, a collaborative effort with her sister Njoki Munyi, which has been especially well received for its message of spiritual resilience and renewal.

The year 2024 was equally significant for Jaque, both in growth and output. She released a string of singles including Yeshua, Salama, and Kila Goti — all of which reinforced her sound as both intimate and powerfully prophetic. She also released her second extended project, the EP titled King of Glory, during a prophetic worship experience known as The War Festival.

In January 2025, she followed up with the Mwana Kondoo EP, a worshipful song featuring Anthony Juma, which has since garnered deep spiritual response from her audience. Then, in August 2025, she released one of her most anticipated singles, Neema — a song she had teased for months. Like most of her previous work, Neema has resonated deeply with those who have experienced the sustaining grace of God through life’s highs and lows.

Throughout her musical journey, Jaque credits her sister Njoki Munyi for being a consistent encourager and spiritual covering, often noting how their seamless collaboration in live recordings is rooted in their shared upbringing and ministry values. She also commends her R-Worship team for fostering a creative and prayerful space where each member uplifts the other — contributing to the excellence and anointing seen in her music.

Awards and Recognition

By far, Jaque Gachiri’s most meaningful accolade has been her deep and lasting contribution to Gospel Music Ministry in Kenya. Her songs continue to stir hearts, inspire faith, and lead people into genuine encounters with God — a mark of true ministry beyond applause or ceremony.

Though she has not yet received formal awards or mainstream nominations, Jaque’s music has become a cornerstone in contemporary Kenyan worship culture. Tracks like Nani Akupinge, Hebrews 12:22, and I’m Moving Ahead are now sung in churches, played in devotionals, and shared widely across platforms — making her a pacesetter and voice of her generation.

She has also ministered on respected stages such as Rhema Feast, The War Festival, and her own live worship concert, The New Dawn — spaces where thousands have gathered to worship and experienced the presence of God through her voice.

Her greatest recognition, however, remains the testimonies of healing, comfort, and spiritual renewal that continue to pour in from listeners across the country and beyond. From prayer meetings in small churches to corporate worship settings, her sound has become part of the spiritual rhythm of many believers’ lives.
