Sung in Sheng, the song Kasonge Kakisonga by Timam Evans urges believers to praise God here on earth just as they will when they get to heaven.
Drawing from the common issues among Christians today – shorter time spent in prayer, urgency to wrap up fellowships, sleeping through overnight prayer and worship meetings, and constant complaints over long Sunday services – Kasonge Kakisonga implores believers to find joy in worshipping God.
Here’s Timam’s take on the song Kasonge Kakisonga:
“When we get to heaven let it be a continuation of what we were used to here on earth. And that’s why we pray as it is in heaven let it be here on earth.”
Timam’s description of the song Kasonge Kakisonga on YouTube
The song is one of the many Timam Evans has written and produced in the contemporary worship music style, and sung in the Sheng language. Timam has a linguistic preference for Sheng, hardly found in worship songs. It’s his way to reach the young speakers of Sheng. His most popular tracks featuring this musical style include Washa Nare and Nafsi Moja.

Song review
Meaning of Kasonge Kakisonga
The phrase Kasonge Kakisonga is a Sheng’ derivative of the Swahili word ‘songa’, which means ‘to move’. By direct translation, ‘Kasonge Kakisonga’ means ‘let it move as it moves’ which can be further denoted as ‘let it go on and on’.
The phrase can be used to charge on – that whatever has been set in motion, let it go on and on.
Scripture review
The song Kasonge Kakisonga by Timam Evans is built on several tenets, including saints singing in worship to God in heaven.
Revelation 5:9, NIV
And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
The first verse starts by stating that there will be no sleep in heaven, but praising. Yet, it is a shame that believers are slacking off in things like congregational gatherings, in the pretext of having so much else to do. This can be tied to believers’ love for God growing cold in these last days:
Matthew 24:12, NIV
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold
The song proceeds to pray that believers would find the joy of worship, making reference to King David’s desire to be found in the house of the Lord:
Psalm 27:4, NIV
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
The second verse affirms that before believers get to heaven, they will sing here on earth, which leads to a call for congregants to come closer and praise God.
The chorus encourages that singing and praising should start here on earth and go on when saints go to heaven.
Extended review
Among the many things that saints will do in heaven is singing. However, singing will be done in worship to the lamb of God, in awe of His glory, and His work of salvation.
While Kasonge Kakisonga by TImam Evans places emphasis on singing, believers also ought to verse themselves with the full view of activities in heaven:
- Worship – Rev. 7:9-10
- Serving – Rev 7:15, 22:3
- Resting – Rev 14:13
- Reigning forever – Rev 22:5
Furthermore, the burdens and setbacks of the flesh will be lifted away. There will be:
- No more sin
- No death, mourning or crying
- No hunger or thirst
In overall, the song is good for edification if sung with knowledge and appreciation of eternity in heaven.
On its first line, Kasonge Kakisonga by Timam Evans states that there will be no sleep. However, there is no direct scriptural reference to this assertion. Much remains unknown on the specifics of rest in heaven.
Kasonge kakisonga song lyrics
Naskianga mbiguni hakuna kulala ni kusifu
Na inanichanga nikiona tunachokeshwa na lisaa limoja la maombezi, Ibada ndefu, mkesha tunalala
We want it brief, tuna mengi ya kufanya
It’s a shame
My prayer ni tupate furaha ya ibada
Aaaaaahhhh
Kama Daudi tutamani kuwa kwa nyumba ya baba
Ahhhhhhh
Ianzie hapa
Aaaaaah! Aaaahhhh!
Ianzie hapa na tukifika huko kasonge kakisonga.
(Repeats twice)
Hata before twende mbingu hapa duniani
Tutaimba saaana, imba saana
Ambia jirani akaribie hapa ni kaende saana kende saana
(Repeats four times)
Ianzie hapa
Aaaaaah! Aaaahhhh!
Ianzie hapa na tukifika huko kasonge kakisonga.
(Repeats twice)
