Legend of the running man

Assignment: twenty-six miles on foot
Harrowing and tedious it seems, huh
No, piece of caake

Watch the leaps and strides in slow-mo
And you misjudge it effortless
But then step into the legend’s shoes

Stride and leap like he does
Feel your heart thud
Pant and gasp for air

Hold your pace and persist
Keep moving
Let your feet take on the miles

A meagre step a time
For 26 darn miles
See how far your footprints go

Then you’ll know
The only meaning of legendary

Eliud Kipchoge
The Kenyan running man
Undisputed legend

Outstanding sportsman
A patriot on-track
A patriot off-track
A renown lethal force in long distance

With endurance and resilience
And an almost impossible 1:59:40
Man crunched 26 miles

Defied both presumption and logic
Ergo the victory slogan
No human is limited

Now forget all the trophies
All the rewards of fame and status
The legend prides in humility
A rare picture of legend
It makes for not only a legend
But a great legend

I don’t run with my legs. I run with my heart and mind
